Day 1:Travel to Slickrock Country: We will depart Phoenix in the morning and head north and west to our first two nights' lodging. On our way, we will hike Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona as well as stop at a majestic arch on our way to the Escalante area. After checking in, we will enjoy a well-deserved dinner before calling it a night.
Day 2: Devil's Garden, Spooky &Peek-A-Boo Canyons. Today’s hike takes us through one of the most physically fun hikes in southern Utah. Driving down historic Hole-in-the-Rock Road, we will hike out to the exciting and fun Spooky and Peek-a-Boo Canyons. Spooky is aptly named as it’s a dark, narrow slot that requires lots of sideways walking with your daypack in your hand. Peek-a-Boo is also brilliant but quite different; it is filled with interconnected potholes, arches, and grottos. Along our drive back, we will take the opportunity to visit the incredible Devil's Garden. This is a great spot as it’s a fairyland of small knobs, arches, and other uniquely eroded features. We will then return to our lodging and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Calf Creek Falls and Hidden Petroglyphs: After a hearty breakfast we will hike the spectacular Calf Creek Falls. This is a beautiful 6-mile round trip hike along calf creek, a lush stream that is home to a substantial trout population. We will hike past Native American ruins and petroglyphs and have a good chance to see some wildlife. At the end of the trail, we can take a refreshing swim below a beautiful waterfall. After lunch, we will explore some Native American pictographs before visiting the unique Kiva Coffee House. We will then travel to our other lodging in Escalante National Monument.
Day 4: Bryce Canyon sunrise hike and Willis Creek: Today starts with an early wake-up to enjoy my favorite spot on earth to watch sunrise--- Bryce Canyon. After witnessing the hoodoos of the canyon light up like candles with the rising sun, we will hike amidst the hoodoos before having a late breakfast. We will then drive to another beautiful slot canyon at Willis Creek. Dinner, drinks, and games round out day 4.
Day 5: Antelope Canyon and Phoenix travel day: We will have an early breakfast and depart Escalante for Phoenix. On the way, we will stop in Page, Arizona to visit the world-famous Antelope Canyon. After this approximately 2-hour stop, we will have lunch before continuing our drive to the valley of the sun, sharing the amazing memories that we have made on this trip as we plan our next Badass Adventure!
